With wedding season in full swing, we sat down with Wellington Limited General Manager Laurie Kramer about one often-overlooked but important aspect of wedding planning: the wedding party gift.
Asking someone to stand in your wedding is a big deal. They are agreeing to take part in your union and support you on one of the biggest days of your life. How do you go about finding a thoughtful gift that doesn’t end up in a junk drawer?
”We’ve customized thousands of wedding party gifts over the years,” says Laurie. “One thing I often tell brides and grooms-to-be: choose something that will have use beyond just the wedding day.”
Gifts with custom messaging related to the wedding or couple (Brad & Hannah, 6/7/20) are popular, but Kramer recommends putting the emphasis on the individual receiving the gift.
“A classy handbag or necklace for the bridal party is a great choice, and engraving each with the name or initials of the individual helps ensure it’ll be treasured and used for years. For the gentlemen, we customize a lot of flask and cigar sets, pocket knives, and pen sets.”
Gifts for the entire wedding party don’t have to break the bank. Drink koozies or coaster sets can be thoughtfully customized. For those looking to spend a little more, personalized artwork is another option.
“We carry a variety of beautiful glass sculptures,” says Laurie. “Some are more for display while others have a function, like the gorgeous colorful glass serving bowls we recently started carrying.”
Regardless of the gift you choose for your wedding party, a custom message that speaks to each person is key.
“A short poem or funny saying that you both enjoy is a great alternative to simply engraving the wedding date. Even a graphic or symbol can add a meaningful touch.”
Choosing the right gift for your wedding party when you’re in the midst of planning your wedding can seem daunting, but engraving experts are on-hand to help at Wellington Limited.
